Hi All,

Remembrance Day Parade

The Remembrance Day Parade is on Sunday 14th November. We will meet at the British Legion between 09:40 and 09:50 for a 10:00 start. Full uniform must be worn and all cubs are expected to attend. If you do not have Navy Cubs trousers then school trousers or Smart Navy trousers can be worn definitely NO JEANS or TRACKIES.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

We have been invited to attend a trip to the Charter Theatre to watch the matinee performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Ticket prices are £9.50 and we need to know if you wish to attend by 19.10.10 and please could you also bring your payment that day.

Autumn Creative Challenge

Cubs are invited to a team competition based on autumn for their creative challenge. This will be held at St Cuthberts Church Hall, Preston, 13:00 - 16:30. Parents must organise transport but are welcome to stay if they wish. There will be a cost of £1 to cover refreshments.

Welcome Back

We hope you have all had a good summer break, we have planned what we will be doing until the Christmas break and it is now on the calendar on the website. We are planning to discuss what you have all done during the summer break and for those who went on the Water Weekend we will be discussing what you enjoyed most.

New for this year we are going to have a set of Cub Rules - this will be made up of suggestions by you of how you think Cubs should behave towards each other and the Leaders. Once you have decided on these I will make a poster and we can have it up on the wall as a reminder.

BBQ

We are having a BBQ on 13.07.10 as this will be our last meeting at the Scout Hut until September, but don't forget the joint Shooting with 2nd Ashton on Thursday 22nd July. Parents are welcome to stay and join us.

Shooting with 2nd Ashton

Akela (Tom) has arranged a night Shooting at Waddecar with 2nd Ashton. This has been booked for 22nd July, meeting at 19:00 in the car park at Waddecar.

Fishing - Unfortunately Cancelled

Hi All, due to unforeseen circumstances the fishing trip to Horns Dam has had to be cancelled. Instead we will meet at the hut at the usual time.

Sports Enthusiast Badge - World Cup

We have set some homework for the Cubs so that they can gain the Sports Enthusiast Badge. As the world Cup is due to start we have tailored it around that. The Cubs were asked where the World Cup was being held and all of them knew that South Africa were the host country.

We would like the Cubs to find out 2 Interesting facts about South Africa.

We would also like them to choose a Country/ Team to follow (not necessarily England) and would like them to write down the date they played, the result of the game and the goal scorers.

Finally can they find out 2 Interesting facts about the Country that they have chosen.

Bugs Night - 15.06.10

We are having a bugs night on 15.06.10, you will need to bring a clear container with a lid to keep your bugs in so you can observe them i.e. Jam Jar, sandwich box etc. If you have any books on Bugs / Insects you can bring those and also magnifying glasses if you have those.

Jade and Ollie - Football and Rounders Competition

On Sunday 16th May there is a Charity Rounders and Football Competition on Longridge Recreation Ground off Kestor Lane. It is on from 10:00 - 12:00, and the Leaders will be on the field cooking burgers during this time. Please come and support us as proceeds will help the Charity and the Scout Group.

Active Kids Vouchers

We are starting to collect the Active Kids Vouchers that you get from Sainsburys. There is a lot of useful equipment that we would be able to get for the group. Please can you save any vouchers that you get and let me have them so that we can purchase items that we need. Thank You

LEGO Night

On 23.03.10 we are having a Lego Night. If any of you have Lego, Magnetics, Meccano or Kinex please feel free to bring it in. If you don't have any of the above, why not bring in you favourite toy to show the group. Please do not bring in electronic toys such as PSP or DS.

Bird Feeders

We are making Bird Feeders this week so can you all please try and remember to bring a plastic bottle with you. A 500ml coke bottle or Lucozade bottle is perfect but any drinks bottle is ok as long as it isn't any bigger than 1ltr.

Party in the Park

This year there is a party in Avenham Park after St Georges Day Parade, this is to celebrate 100 years of scouting in Preston District. There will be rides, inflatables, games, crafts, campfire and much much more. See this letter for more information.

Change to Program

We have to make some changes to the program due to the inclement weather. We are no longer going for a hike on 02.03.10, we will meet at the hut at the usual time. The hike will now take place later on in the month.

John Farnworth

Just a quick reminder that John Farnworth World Champion Freestyle footballer will be coming to the Hut to give a demonstration.

Swimming Tonight

Just a quick reminder that we are going to Nick's Pool on Halfpenny lane tonight. We are meeting at the Hut at 19:00, please can all cubs remember to bring their swimming stuff and a towel. Parents please pick your children up from the pool at 20:30. If any parent is free to stop with us tonight it would be very helpful as there will only be 2 leaders tonight.

Cubs Cancelled 12.01.10

We have had to cancel Cubs due to all the water in the hut being frozen. We will still be meeting on 19.01.10 even if the water is frozen, as we will be going to Nick's Pool on Halfpenny Lane as soon as all the Cubs have arrived. Please don't forget to fill out the Activity Forms and bring with you.

Nights Away From Scout Hut

If this works you should find attached the forms we require you to fill in when we are away from the Scout Hut for the evening. Please can you fill the relevant forms in and bring them with you on the evening of the Night Away. I will also try and attach the Shooting Permission forms etc.
